Webber tops first day of final F1 test

Mark Webber put Red Bull on top of the timesheets on the opening day of Formula 1's final pre-season test at Barcelona on Thursday. The Australian's 1m22.693s lap time was set on soft-compound Pirelli tyres with just seven minutes of running remaining and put him 1.655s clear of Lewis Hamilton's Mercedes. After the late-morning rain left drivers with a wet track to tackle, rain tyres were the weapons of choice during the early afternoon running, with Webber recording a series of 1m44s laps

On the larger side of things, the full range of Tourneo vans (shown above) will be on display, including the introduction of the new Tourneo Courier model, but Ford will also be showing off the all-new EcoSport crossover, which is based on the automaker's Global B platform and will be positioned beneath the Kuga, better known here as the Escape. Official: Toyota Camry lineup gets interior and tech updates one year in

2013 Toyota Camry - front three-quarter view

When it debuted last year, the Toyota Camry came in for some criticism over its interior, most centered on material choices - both in quality (not enough) and variety (too much). Thus, Toyota has responded after just one model year, updating both materials and features on its gas-powered and hybrid family sedans for 2013.

The LE version appeared to get the lion's share of the improvements. Specifically, the LE is getting "soft-touch" door materials as well as armrests that match the rest of the interior color (instead of being black). The LE model also gets Toyota's six-inch display screen that helps folks get a better gander at the car's energy usage and fuel economy, among other things. Other changes include adding cross-traffic alert for models equipped with blind spot monitoring

Toyota introduced its latest version of the Camry and Camry Hybrid in the fall of 2011 as a 2012 model. Sales have been solid, and in particular, the Camry Hybrid has improved its fortunes, bumping its US sales almost fivefold to more than 45,000 units. So far in 2013, the latter has carried over much of that momentum, boosting January 2013 sales from a year earlier by 81 percent to 3,826 units.

Looking for more details? Toyota happily goes into a ton of detail on the interior improvements in the press release below.

Video: Driver uses "powermove" to stop tailgating... now

They say that wearing a pink tie is a power move, but so is stopping your car in the middle of an entrance ramp and giving a tailgater a good, old-fashioned stare down. If all that's true, that makes the unidentified man in this video Mr. Powermove.

Although we can't tell exactly what happened before the dashcam started recording, the well-dressed driver apparently felt he was being followed too closely, so he stopped his car in the roadway, calmly got out and gave our dashcam-wielding driver a stare that will probably help him or her avoid tailgating in the future. Now there are plenty of methods get someone to stop tailgating you, but this could be one of the gutsiest moves we've even seen.

We wouldn't exactly recommend pulling this move (unless you plan on getting run over or provoking a fight), but you can see what transpires in the video below.

Force India confirms Sutil test drive

Adrian Sutil will drive for Force India at this week's Barcelona Formula 1 test, as he vies with Jules Bianchi for the second race seat. The 30-year-old German had a seat-fitting with the Silverstone-based squad last week, although Force India insisted at the time that it was only a 'possibility' that he would form part of the line-up in Spain . On Monday, the team announced that Sutil will get behind the wheel of the VJM06 on Thursday, the third day of the test.

iRacer Profile: Lee Ball

It?s common for sim-racers to sing iRacing?s benefits in making the transition from online racing to real world motorsports. In Lee Ball?s case, you could almost say the process has worked in reverse. The McLeansville, NC resident already had plenty of real racing miles under his belt when he joined iRacing in 2012. So you could say he put the racing know-how and savvy he learned in karts, Limited Late Models and Late Models to use once he added iRacing to his resume. Then again, sim-racing has been a part of Ball?s repertoire from an early age ? seven to be exact — when he contracted the virtual bug via NASCAR 96 . . . In any case, he sure proved to be a quick study on iRacing, winning the [...]

Report: Chinese patent filing may mean Lamborghini Urus closer to production

The Urus SUV still hasn't received the official green light for production, but that hasn't stopped Lamborghini from protecting its performance crossover in the land of stolen vehicle designs. These patent drawings submitted in China show what appear to be the Urus in the same concept form that we first saw last year at the Beijing Motor Show.

Last we heard, the Volkswagen Group had put development of the Urus on hold even though, more recently, the Bentley EXP 9 F (aka, the Falcon) has reportedly been given the nod. Although the existence of these patent images don't necessarily mean the Urus is going into production, they are at least another excuse to debate the SUV's stealth-bomber-style lines.

Report: New Die Hard movie wrecked 132 cars in $11 million chase scene [w/video]

Mercedes-Benz G-Class SUV wrecked in Die Hard 5

It would seem the act of dying hard brings with it lots of wanton destruction of the four-wheeled kind. According to John Moore, director of A Good Day To Die Hard, starring Bruce Willis, There were 132 (cars) that could never be used again. Another 518 required a lot of work. And damn right there were some good cars there... That's the fun of it."

Please join us in one great big collective sigh. Done? Okay, let's continue.

"With Die Hard it's about how audacious the action is," says Moore. "So you have to drive over a Lamborghini. An actual one. And yes it hurts me. I'm a car fanatic." Yeah. Sounds like it hurt really bad... though not as bad as the final tally after all the carnage had been counted: "Someone showed me the numbers on the car chase and soup to nuts, you put it all together it was like an $11 million sequence."

Interestingly enough, that $11 million tally didn't include a "several" Mercedes-Benz G-Class SUVs. According to Moore, the German automaker provided G wagons at no cost for filming, and, of course, all of them were wrecked. Proof of such can be seen by watching the video, provided by Mercedes itself, below.

Ferrari F150 Enzo successor renderings Josiah LaColla

While so many supposed Ferrari fanatics are just sitting on their collective hands and waiting for the Italian supercar maker to finally reveal its F150 (or whatever it'll be called) Enzo follow-up, designer Josiah LaColla has gotten busy with his Wacom tablet and set to work. The results, though quite possibly no closer to the actual F150 as any of the other renderings we've seen thus far, are lovely to behold.

Well, actually, "lovely" probably isn't the perfect descriptor - anything less than a little bit brutal wouldn't be a proper successor to the Enzo, nor would it fit the parameters laid out by the test mules we've seen so far. Accurate within the best of LaColla's ability to guess and imagine is probably a better way of looking at these designs, which show a car that has enough venting to keep the bowls of Hell cool (should Hell ever hit the autostrada at 150+ miles per hour).

We've recapitulated the designer's own words in press release form, below, so as to give you a good idea of his intentions with the design. Read, view and tell us what you think the renderings, in comments.
