Lola reveals cost-capped LMP2 coupe

Lola has announced it will introduce a cost-capped LMP2 coupe for 2012. The B12/80 is a response to the latest low-budget LMP2 ethos and will be the first coupe for the class's new era.

Monterey: Aston Martin shows off V12 Zagato, announces U.S. sales program

If you like Aston Martins but have grown tired of the aging design that characterizes the Vantage, DB9 and Rapide model lines, Monterey, California, is the place to be this week. That's where, amidst all the classics and concours, Aston is showing off its latest car, the V12 Zagato, marking the first time that the car has been shown in North America. The transatlantic voyage follows the concept car's decorated unveiling at Villa d'Este, its competition debut at the Nürburgring and the announcement of its production, which will start next summer.

While many times limited edition cars like this are reserved exclusively for Europe, Aston Martin tells us that the V12 Zagato will be available to customers here in the United States. Granted, buyers will only be able to import the cars under a Show or Display registration, but we're guessing that most owners wouldn't drive more than the limit of 2,500 miles per year, anyway.

While you most likely won't be one of the lucky 150 people to get a £330,000 V12 Zagato, you can get your visual fill of the car in the high-res gallery above.

Morgan and friends converting Aero Supersport into all-electric prototype

You may think of Morgan as a stodgy old automaker. And in many ways its is, still making as it does some of its cars on a wooden frame and recently going back to its roots with a delicious trike that looks like it came straight out a WW2 air field. But Morgan is also the company that makes the AeroMax and EvaGT. And now it's taking one step further into the future (or present) of the automotive industry with a new electric prototype.

Developed in conjunction with a number of partners, the Morgan Aero Supersport +E is the first of two new engineering prototypes the company is building, and will be unveiled in a couple weeks in Rockingham, England, at the Low Carbon Vehicle expo.

The prototype ditches the 4.8-liter BMW V8 in favor of a 94-horsepower electric drive system, uniquely operating through a manual transmission. The motor and battery are provided by Zytek - which already supplies a number of automakers as well as racing applications like Formula One's KERS and the first hybrid at Le Mans - mounted onto an aluminum subframe. Caudill to Drive JR Motorsports Late Model

Longtime iRacer Jim Caudill Jr. has been selected to drive a JR Motorsports Chevrolet in two upcoming late model races at Motor Mile Speedway (Radford, VA).� The announcement was made by JRM co-owner and general manager Kelley Earnhardt, who revealed that Caudill will pilot the No.� 88 Chevrolet in races on August 13 and 20, with sponsorship from iRacing.com.� He will be joined by JRM teammate (and fellow iRacer) Josh Berry, who will be driving the No. 72 R&B Chevrolet in those events. Austin welcomes November date

United States Grand Prix officials have welcome Bernie Ecclestone's decision to move the inaugural Austin race to November next year. As revealed by AUTOSPORT, Ecclestone circulated a new version of the 2012 calendar during the Hungarian Grand Prix weekend.
